1. Stop background apps

  • Go to Start, then select Settings  > Privacy > Background apps.
  • Under Background Apps, make sure Let apps run in the background is turned On.
  • Choose which apps can run in the background, turn individual apps and services settings On or Off.
To stop most apps from running in the background

  • Go to Start, then select Settings  > Privacy > Background apps.
  • Under Background Apps, make sure Let apps run in the background is turned Off.

2. Deleting Temporary Files

1. Press ⊞ Win+R to open the Run dialog. Another way to open the Run dialog is to type run into the Windows search bar and click Run in the results.

2. Type prefetch into the "Run" box and press ↵ Enter. This opens the Prefetch folder in the File Explorer
Depending on your security settings, you may need to enter your admin password or confirm the action before you see the folder contents.
